It
is very likely that there is really a secret Benjamin Netanyahu is unable to reveal and has been disclosed
to very few people in Israel in fear that the information will leak. This
secret is almost for sure the size of the German monetary compensation, the
amount of which could embarrass Chancellor Angela Merkel. This might be true, especially if
she did not get the approval of the German parliament.

Is Israel-Iran rapprochement possible?

On war and peace: is Israel-Iran rapprochement possible? And on the banality of the “good”.
For several weeks now I have been
trying, with my weak voice, to initiate a campaign to call for a meeting
between Ahmadinejad and Netanyahu similar to the one between Sadat and Begin in
1977. Although this idea seems fantastical at first glance, it has received important
support from none other than a fairly official Iranian source that should be
taken seriously, for it signals a surprising openness to the initiative in Tehran.

Norman Finkelstein's German Tour cancelled under Pressure
Norman Finkelstein's German Tour cancelled under Pressure
The Federal Republic of Germany is not known for democratic traditions and things are not getting any better. A German friend talks about the "potatoe republic" (Kartoffelrepublik) when he describes his country. During the Nazi era there was an enforced political conformity (Gleichschaltung) and modern Germany has far to go before it can overcome this heritage. This is demonstrated by the very effective efforts to silence voices critical of Israel, and define them a-priori as "anti-Semitic" (Judeophobe).
